Noor Mang

Noor Mang or Noormong (نو ر منگ) is a small village situated between Namli Maira and Phalkot (Dhaki Khaiter) in Abbottabad District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (formerly, the North West Frontier Province) of Pakistan. Noor Mang is located on Murree road in Namli Maira Union Council.
==Occupation ==
Most of the people of this hilly area work in Bank,Business.The younger generation is employed as Mutli Co, the Army and other occupations.
The majority of the people of this village Noor Mung belong to the Awan tribe. Several communities living in this village but leading communities is Bhagwal other people in this, although they are in a minority. People are religious and are all Muslims.Total population approximately 5500-6500
This valley is located at the back of Abbottabad, in the feet of Nathiagali/Thandani Hills on Abbottabad,-. Some mountains of the valley are nearly of the same height as the Nathiagali hills. For example: Barian, and Daka. It has beautiful pine, scrub and shrub forests, streams, waterfalls, peaks and gorges to watch.
Most of the area of these hilly hamlets and villages is covered with trees. Peaks are covered with evergreen trees including pine, walnut, oak and maple trees. Herbs, shrubs, wild flowers and thorny bushes can be seen in abundance. Goats and other pet animals graze in pastures. Most of the people used forest wood as fuel for daily use and also for home construction.
The forests of the valley are full of wildlife including leopards, monkeys, Jackal and Fox etc. The barking Jungle cock, Rabbit are occasionally seen. Some wild animals seen in Village Mountain basically belong to this hilly area of village.
The whole valley is netted with car tracks , transport is comparatively less due to domination of local transporters. The following is the introduction.There are two main roads connecting the village with Bara Hotter and Namli Maira Road, Due to long distance of road mostly people used chair left from Namli Maira Road to Village.
This is area administrated by one police station (Baganoter). The village area starts from Bara Hotter and ends at Bara Maira UC,Namli Maira in north to east and from Dhaki Khater to Namli Maira is in district Abbottabad.
This whole area of forest ranges are under the administrative control of Forest Division Abbottabad Wildlife Division. Along with other small reserves, Barian ,Daka and Dagri, are located in this area. The largest reserved forest is Dagri, which starts from Dhaki Khater ends at the boundaries of Dhagri Bangla Near (Kutli).
The Dhor River consists of two main streams and their small helping nullas:
Bari Dhor (Bara Hotter): its source is in the Phalkot/Barangali Hills. The waters of Kutli,Jandger Bari, Slopes., its suburbs, and the surrounding areas fall in to this stream.
Choti Dhor (Namli Maira/Bagnoter): It starts from the base of Nathiagali Hills. The waters of western slopes of Mira Jani Hills, southern slopes of Nathia Hills, fall in this stream.
Mountains of the Valley
There are several high peaks and mountains in the region of village Noormung.
Dana Meerajani: A beautiful and large mountain located on the nearly corner of Nathiagali.
There are a few villages also on this mountain. These villages are Namli Maira,Bara Maira,Nakah Maira, etc. The awe-inspiring location, with an altitude of 9800 feet above the sea level is located 32 Kilometer, of Abbottabad. Meera Jani is the major tourist attraction of the this village, during the both seasons summer and winter. Due to its tremendous scenic beauty, velvet green plateaus and wonderful climate, covered with snow it wins admiration of nature lovers.
Daka (Noormung): It is another beautiful mountain of the valley this is the 2nd highest peak about 6000-7000 feet of. It is located top of village and covered with pine, deodar jungles.
Employment:- Employment is the main source of income. However, 10% people, Mostly women illiterate, old and women are engaged in agro-pastoral activities. Land is partially owned by community. Livestock rearing, subsistence agriculture, fuel wood, fodder and water collection etc are mostly carried out by local transportation. Wheat and maize are the commonly grown crops. The village is rain-fed but soil is fertile enough to produce above average crop yields.
Climate: The weather of village Noor Mung remains cool, pleasant and foggy in summers (1 May to 31 August). During the Monsoon season (1 July to 16 September), rain is expected almost every day. Cold winds start to chill the weather in autumn. Winters (1 November to 28 February) are very cold and chilly. In December and January, heavy snowfall occurs top of village and surrounding area of village. The weather remains cold in spring. Here most comfortable weather is the summer season.
